Refugees are the Odysseus of our time. As a small contribution to their endless Odyssey, the proceeds of two works by from the Mosaic Odysseys exhibition will be donated to the NGO AGKALIA, which operates in Lesvos, the island which embraced the highest number of refugees (ΑΓΚΑΛΙΑ in greek means embrace, hug). The works are: “Safe in Lesvos, the land of the Phaeacians" by Artemis Klitsi “Homage to the refugees – No Man’s Land" by Artemis Klitsi We chose these two works because they have a direct connection with the island, as they are based on refugee photographs taken in Lesvos. The first one talks about the relief of salvation, and the second, about today’s reality: safe, yes, but still in no man’s land, trapped behind closed borders. We chose to support the efforts of AGKALIA, being a local NGO which embraces those in need in the island of Lesvos. https://www.facebook.com/NGO.Agkalia/ Lila Abdul-Rahim, refugee volunteer worker, has written the following about these works: Comments are closed.
